Happy Holidays, folks!

Shoppers are jockeying for position at the check-out and people are getting ruder by the day, so that means that Christmas can't be far behind. I wish this time of year only brought out the best in people, instead of equal parts good and bad. For every act of charity and kindness that is made, another person is cut off in traffic by some imbecile on their cellphone getting the latest hockey scores instead of paying attention to their driving. If it weren't for the fact that I don't like to put anything on my car, I'd make up a bumper sticker that reads "You're not driving a phone booth! GET OFF YOUR DAMNED CELLPHONE!!"

Not that I'm bitter, or anything.

Okay, now that I have that little bit of emotional venting out of the way, let's look at the good side of this season. It does make people a little more prone to smile and value their families. These are usually the people who have finished their Christmas shopping, but what I think is lost in all this is that Christmas isn't about getting that nice new iMac (BTW, I do still want it:) or whatever is on your list. It isn't about some guy flying about the sky in a sleigh. I don't normally get preachy, so I'll leave it at this: Christmas is where we give thanks to God for sending us his only son to teach us and ultimately save us.

That ought to do it for me. I'm off for my last day of work this week - tomorrow Olivia and I head off into the west to visit her side of the family for Christmas. Should be fun. In the meantime, Happy Holidays (whichever holiday you celebrate) and I'll talk to you soon!

Merry Christmas,
~Rob
