Cabela's and Assorted Other Stuff

Hi folks,
A few things going on, so let's get into it.

1) I started my new job as an offline captioner last Wednesday. I seem to be picking it up really well, and I like it a lot better than my last position within this company. Without going into too much detail (in the event that someone from my work reads this that doesn't have a sense of humor), my previous position and I were not a good fit. I could say a LOT more, but I'll be an adult (for a change) and not succumb to that temptation. I'm a lot happier now.

2) I know I've said this before, but I have the seeds of an idea for a comic strip. The difference this time is, I would want to publish it as a webcomic, as the state of newspapers in America is dismal. Also, this would allow me greater control over my work. Stay tuned!

3) I went to Cabela's in Fort Worth today. The place just opened and all I have to say is...Oh my God. For those of you who've never heard of Cabela's, it is this small chain of camping, hunting and fishing gear mega-ultra-super stores. This place is frikkin' huge! It has museum-quality displays of stuffed game, an aquarium, a archery shooting range, a laser-sight shooting gallery, audioanimatronic mounted heads that track your movements as though they're carrying on a conversation with you, a large pond/lake to test out boats before you buy them....The list goes on. Olivia and I bought souvenir T-shirts and got a lot of walking (i.e. exercise) done.

4) My birthday is Friday. I will officially be "pushing 40"; I'll turn 37. Family members have asked me what I want for my birthday, and the honest answer is "I don't know." I mean, there are a few things I'd like, but they're too expensive.
However, in case you're interested, here are the things I'd like to have, in no particular order:
a) $1,000,000.00. This is pretty much a constant request. ;)
b) A house for my family, as we're getting tired of renting and I'm really sick of sharing walls with people. If there is an eccentric millionaire out there, please help us out, we're the parents of twins!
Now, here come the more reasonable requests :)
c) a 30GB iPod.
d) World of Warcraft for the Macintosh, with a 6 month subscription.
e) A memory upgrade for my eMac.
f) DSL internet.

5) Thanks to the folks that have posted or written me regarding the lap band surgery, which I had mentioned several posts back. Unfortunately, I have found out that my insurance doesn't cover it, even though I am what is considered "morbidly obese." If anyone wanted to pay for that, too, I'd be open to that. I promise to post more often if that happens. :)

That'll do it for me. Gotta go sing "Twinkle Twinkle" and get my girls to sleep. A twin's daddy's work is never done. :)

Take care,
~Rob
