Hiya folks,
The hotel that I work for is in Santa Clarita, CA, and one of the things about my home town that I've always found neat is that the area is used for a lot of film and TV shooting. Ever seen The Flintstones movie and wondered about those slanted rocks that seemed to be everywhere? That's Vasquez Rocks State Park, about 10 minutes from where I live. Most of the area has doubled for Las Vegas in CSI and parts of town have been used for the exterior shots of Odessa, Texas in the NBC tv show Heroes (which, by the way, is frikkin' awesome). Anyway, the hotel I work for often has cast and crew staying there overnight, including Minnie Driver. She gets these custom prepared meals dropped off for her every night around 2:00AM so that she doesn't have to eat the food on the set. Thursday morning around 1:30AM, she had dropped off 2 of the empty insulated bags that her food comes in for the delivery guy to pick up that night. About 10 minutes later, I noticed something shiny in one of the side pockets of one of the bags. It was her gold Prada handbag. I called her immediately and she thanked me a great deal, as they had been tearing the set apart all day trying to find it. I didn't get a tip or anything for finding it, but I didn't really need one - it felt good to help her out.
Tomorrow the wife and I take off for Las Vegas to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. Hopefully this good karma I just built up will translate into a jackpot!
