Howdy all,
This is going to be a bit of a disjointed piece of blogging, so proceed from here forewarned.
The job search continues apace while I take care of the girls at home. I really think I'm getting a handle on how to deal with them on a daily basis that still leaves me sane at the end of the day. Mostly, it involves talking softly to them instead of trying to use "the Father Voice of Authority."
Today, I went to my daughters' room and, thinking it kind of funny, politely knocked on the door before opening it - something I normally never do. Once I opened it, I saw Nicki, the oldest of the two twins, sitting on her bed "reading" a book to her sister, Emma. I was then told to get out because I "no be in here for the reading stories to Emma," delivered with all the indignation that a 3-year-old can bring to bear.
Well, she sure told me.
This past Friday I was really proud of myself. I was in full-on "Mr. Mom" mode. I managed to get the girls to take a nap without any gnashing of teeth or crying or any sort of turmoil, I got all the dishes washed, I did several loads of laundry, and had dinner cooked and ready for Kathy when she came home last night. Earned myself some brownie points there. Oh, and that cure for cancer I was working on? Yeah, finished that Friday, too.
This past Sunday, I went to my first Renaissance Festival ever. It was about as odd as I thought it would be. Essentially, it was like a science fiction and fantasy convention outdoors. Very interesting, but Kathy and I both agreed that we would have gotten more out of it if the girls were with a babysitter. I was wearing a t-shirt that my brother-in-law Chris had bought me that garnered me a great deal of compliments. I would describe it to you, but it's easier just to show you.
That ought to do it for now. Talk to you all later!
Take care,
~Rob
