Customers from Heck

A friend of mine told me about this website called CustomersSuck.Com and I decided that I'd post one of my stories from my job at it. Lo and behold, they did not deign to grace their pages with my somewhat funny story, so here it is in all its glory. Enjoy :)

I work for a large chain book retailer in one of their stores in Texas. Close to closing time, I had a customer come up to the front, drop his books on the counter (2 bibles and a Christian Inspiration book), grunt at me, then look around while I rang him up. Now, for those who don't know much about Texas ( I didn't before I moved here) this guy was (and still is) an Aggie. An Aggie is someone who attended Texas A&M University and Aggies have an undeserved reputation for not being overly blessed with common sense - to put it mildly. This guy had his A&M ring on and had the A&M logo printed all over his checks.

Anyway, Mr. Aggie looks around then blinks when an idea hits his frontal lobe:

"Y'all ever get any authors in here?"

I informed him that we occasionally had local authors do signings and similar events.

Mr. Aggie grunts and then asks "How about people like Max Lucado or C.S. Lewis?"

I then had to inform Mr. Aggie that C.S. Lewis is dead.

The man blinked for probably a full minute before saying "Oh yeah, I guess you're right." It's like it took that long for the hamster in his skull to get back onto its exercise wheel and get his brain cranking along again!

Besides, Lewis was British - he would have been a tough pull even if he were still alive! ;)

Ta Dah!
Take care,
~Rob
