It must be love...or at least serious "like."

I know that I'm a little late (OK, a lot late) in presenting a Valentine's post, but I have lots of good excuses - err, reasons. Chief among them being going to school again and taking care of the girls. Also, my folks have had some minor health trouble - nothing too serious, but they now essentially have to live like they had heart attacks, although they didn't.

But that's not why I decided to write up a post before February was gone and I'd miss the window on a Valentine's post altogether. No, it's because of Lana.

Lana (not her real name so as to protect my butt from libel charges) was the first girl I ever fell in love with. Well, maybe not "love," now that I know what that really feels like, but I was definitely in "like" with her. I was at school the other day and I saw this girl that reminded me of Lana a great deal and it made me wonder for the first time in years whatever happened to her. So I Googled her. Turns out that she became a poetess and runs some online poetry 'zine. I even read a little of an interview with her. Boy Howdy! Am I glad I married who I did, because Lana's work is a little...dark for my taste. The interviewer described it as "sensual," and not in the good way, I'm thinking. The kind that makes you go "Yikes!"

It's just funny the twists and turns life takes while you're making other plans (to paraphrase John Lennon). If I hadn't had the falling out with Lana (long and boring story, trust me), I would not have learned to appreciate the love I have for my wife, who is without question one of the sweetest, kindest and spiritually strongest people I have had the honor of knowing and loving. I know this sounds kind of saccharine, gang, but that's how I feel. Or, to be a lot less *ahem* poetic: My wife is awesome. Deal with it.:)

OK, so this was a pretty rambling post. They're not all masterpieces, folks :)

Take care,
~Rob
